I am an Arizona mixed media jewelry artist with a lifetime of painting, graphic design and jewelry creation. My work is about color, pattern and experimentation. My current passion is creating original jewelry design in polymer clay. This medium has many possibilities for experimentation and is a joy to use as a medium of expression. It is my goal to create a beautiful, one of a kind piece, to adorn the wearer in joy.
Creativity has always been a part of my life. As a young child I designed my doll's clothes, crocheted & painted. In adulthood I earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design with a minor in speech and theatre, worked at an advertising agency, winning awards for my ads, and at a television station. I have continued my studies of painting and design under Simon Michael, Kenneth Loomis, Virginia Cobb, Barbara Nechis, and Julie Picarillo.
I have had numerous opportunities to travel and observe different cultures and their art, a fact that has greatly influenced my jewelry designs.
I am a juried member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, Tucson, Arizona, a member of the Santa Cruz Valley Art Association, Tubac, Arizona, and the Tucson Polymer Clay Guild. My work can be seen at the Tubac Center of the Arts, at various art festivals, and on this website. Thank you for visiting my site, Susan
